Technical Glitches, Comebacks, and Sucka Punches

DA PAPER IS DOONEEE! 13 pages of agony completed in only 4 days! (Quite the feat for someone as easily distracted as me..)
First off, sorry about the link, the English Premier League has pretty much removed every video on Rooney's brilliance that was his goal this Saturday. What a shame! Even Sir Alex Ferguson noted the goal as the best he had ever seen at Old Trafford. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/players/wayne-rooney/8321275/Wayne-Rooneys-goal-the-best-I-have-ever-seen-says-Manchester-United-manager-Sir-Alex-Ferguson.html

In 17 appearances this year for Manchester United in EPL play, he has only found the back of de ol' onion bag 5 times. For any other striker, these numbers are not dismal, but for the man who had 26 goals in 32 matches in the 2009-2010 season, it has been a bit of a let down for Red Devil fans worldwide. A cause for concern? Most likely not. Many, including I, think this goal is just the confidence boost he needs to get back to his old ways.

But enough soccer already. How bout a real man's game? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-S9mCL5JiDc
Nothing says (North) America like a brawl on ice. Now I wouldn't say I am a religious NHL fan, but I know enough to be both elated and disgusted by this game that happened Friday night. On one hand, who doesn't like hockey fights, yet alone sucker punches (the first fight on the video) and goalie fights? On the other, this seems a bit over the top. The NHL dished out 2 suspensions and a $100,000 fine to the Islanders. I personally think it should have been a much heftier boom lowered by the League. Professional players should be able to be mature enough and professional enough to determine when enough is enough. Sending a message to either your team or the opponents is understandable, and should absolutely be tolerated. However, the flat out brawl that took place was absurd.

Enough ranting, time for some NBA 2k11 and food before a long, long week ahead of me.  Later.

  2. Rooney is going to be interesting to see what happens to him and his future in reference to goal scoring. As for hockey, every sport is becoming more and more about the entertainment and spectators/fans care less about the art of the game. It started with the NFL and the players creating touchdown dances, then went to college and NBA basketball where all they do is pound there chest and roar after every "good" play. The plays should be considered nbd because they are pro's and it is what they are paid to do, but they celebrate absolutely everything they do. In hockey there isn't much goal scoring, so the fights that are expected to occur are what sell tickets for some people. The sucker punch wasn't tight, but when emotions are running high cause you're getting destroyed by the Penguins, 4-0 if I heard from the video right, then I can see why he BLASTED him.
P.S. did I see Ovechkin playing for the Penguins in the video?
